Wednesday 31st August 2005.

 

DAVIDSTOW AIRFIELD; One Yellow Wagtail was noted this morning.

ST AGNES HEAD; A Hoopoe was noted near the craft centre this afternoon.

NANQUIDNO; The three juvenile Choughs were still present at the seaward end.

HAYLE ESTUARY; 17 Curlew Sandpipers were present at Lelant Water this afternoon together with ten Little Egret.


Tuesday 30th August 2005.

 

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Two Wood sandpipers were noted today.

TRESILLIAN RIVER; Eight Spotted Redshank, nine Greenshank and three Little Egret were present today.

KENIDJACK VALLEY; A single Pied Flycatcher was noted this evening.


Monday 29th August 2005.

 

PORTHGWARRA; A Wryneck was observed at the 60ft cover this morning.

COT VALLEY; A Melodious Warbler was present this morning.

NANQUIDNO; The three juvenile Choughs were still present at the seaward end today.

STITHIAN RESERVOIR; The Black-necked Grebe was still off the Golden Lion causeway today.


Sunday 28th August 2005.

 

NANQUIDNO; The three Choughs  were still at the seaward end today.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; A juvenile Wood Sandpiper was still still present today.

KENIDJACK VALLEY; Two Pied Flycatchers present this morning.

CARNYORTH; A single Whinchat was noted.

BOTALLACK; One Hobby was noted today.

STITHIANS RESERVOIR; A Black-necked Grebe was noted off the Golden Lion causeway. Also noted were single Ruff, Green Sandpipers and Little Egret.

COWLOE; A Hooded Crow was noted here this morning.

LAND'S END; A single Pied Flycatcher was present today.

SENNEN COVE; Three juveniles Mediterranean Gulls were present off the Lifeboat Station today.


Saturday 27th August 2005.

 

PENDEEN; One Cory's Shearwater past early morning. A Balearic Shearwater was noted this afternoon.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Two Wood Sandpipers again present, together with two Greenshank, two Green Sandpiper, four Common Sandpiper, two Ruff and a Dunlin.

PENZANCE/ ISLES OF SCILLY; A Long-tailed Skua was sighted this morning from the Scillonian. Two Cory's Shearwaters, a single Balearic Shearwater, 15 Storm Petrels, a Blue Fulmar and nine Manx Shearwaters were also noted.

STITHIANS RESERVOIR; A juvenile Mediterranean Gull was present off Carminellis causeway this afternoon, together with a Greenshank.


Friday 26th August 2005.

 

SENNEN COVE; Two juvenile Mediterranean Gull were present this morning.

NANQUIDNO; The three juvenile Choughs were still at the seaward end this morning.

PENDEEN; Two Sabine's Gulls past today, together with four Balearic Shearwaters, four Sooty Shearwater, seven Storm Petrels and a Little Egret.

FALMOUTH; One juvenile Little Gull present at the Yacht Marina today.

NANJIZAL; One Wood Sandpiper present on the pool today, also two Black-tailed Godwits.

PORTH NANVEN; The first winter Mediterranean Gull again on the beach this afternoon.

MARAZION; A Little Stint and a Little Tern on the beach this morning.

HAYLE ESTUARY; Four, (two adults and two second-summer), Mediterranean Gull and eight Little Egret at Lelant Water this afternoon.


Thursday 25th August 2005.

 

SENNEN COVE; A Great Shearwater flew south this morning. Up to three Grey Phalaropes were noted in the late evening.

PENZANCE/ ISLES OF SCILLY; 22 Cory's Shearwater was noted this morning.

PENZANCE; Two Mediterranean Gulls were at Morrisons roundabout this morning.

PENDEEN; Five Great Shearwater were noted past today, together with 15 Cory's Shearwater, an adult Sabine's Gull, an adult Long-tailed Skua, two Pomarine Skuas, 35 Sooty Shearwater, a Black Tern and a Phalarope Sp.

PORTH NANVEN; A first winter Mediterranean Gull was on the beach today.

STITHIANS RESERVOIR; One Greenshank and ten Black-tailed Godwits.

HAYLE ESTUARY; An adult Mediterranean Gull was present this afternoon, as was ten Little Egret.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Two Wood Sandpipers, two Greenshank, two Ruff and five Little Egret were seen today.

ST IVES; Two Great Shearwater past this afternoon, together with two Balearic Shearwaters and a Sooty Shearwater.


Wednesday 24th August 2005.

 

PORTHGWARRA; Four Cory's Shearwater past today, together with three Sooty Shearwater, one Balearic Shearwater, 20 Manx Shearwater, an Arctic Skua and 26 Storm Petrels.

STITHIANS RESERVOIR; The, juvenile, Pectoral Sandpipers was still at the Carminellas causeway, today.

PENZANCE/ ISLES OF SCILLY; An immature Long-tailed Skua and a Sooty Shearwater were seen from Scillonian, this morning.

PENDEEN; A Cory's Shearwater and nine Sooty Shearwater and a Storm Petrel past today.

NANQUIDNO; The three juvenile Choughs were still present at the seaward end.

ST IVES; A Cory's Shearwater past this afternoon, also noted were two Sooty Shearwater and two Great Skua.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; A Pectoral Sandpiper was viewable from the hide this evening, together with a Black-necked Grebe.


Tuesday 23rd August 2005.

 

STITHIANS RESERVOIR; The juvenile Pectoral sandpiper was still at the southeast end today.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; The Wood Sandpiper was still present this afternoon, together with three Ruff, four Greenshank, three Dunlin, one Common Sandpiper, one Green Sandpiper and six Little Egret.


Monday 22nd August 2005.

 

DRIFT RESERVOIR; A Wood Sandpiper was at the north end today, together with two Ruff, four Dunlin, two Greenshank, three Green Sandpiper, four Common Sandpiper, one Ringed Plover and five Little Egret.

STITHIAN'S RESERVOIR; A juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper was present off the Carminellas causeway today.

PENDEEN; A single Cory's Shearwater was noted past this morning together with two Balearic Shearwater and two Sooty Shearwaters.

TINTAGEL; A Chough was reported at Merlin's Cave today.


Sunday 21st August 2005.

 

AMBLE MARSHES; One juvenile Wood Sandpiper present this morning together with a Garganey.

NANQUIDNO; The three juvenile Choughs are still present in fields at the seaward end.

PENDEEN; A single Cory's Shearwater was noted past this morning.

STITHIAN'S RESERVOIR; The juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper was still present this morning. Three Black Terns were noted this afternoon.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Two Wood Sandpipers still present today. Also present were nine Little Egret and a Ruff.

GWITHIAN; A single Little Ringed Plover was noted at the sand works with a Ringed Plover this afternoon.

POLGIGGA; A Dotterel was observed in a field, north of Bosistow Lane, this evening. A single Ruff and three Tree Pipits were also noted.


Saturday 20th August 2005.

 

PENDEEN; A total of 57 Cory's Shearwater were watched past today, together with ten Balearic Shearwater, eleven Sooty Shearwater, one Pomarine Skua and a Storm Petrel.

HAYLE ESTUARY; Two Mediterranean Gull, (an adult and a juvenile), were at Lelant Water today.

STITHIAN'S RESERVOIR; The juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper was still at the South Hide today, as was a Black-tailed Godwit.

PENTIRE/ RUMPS POINT; Four Cory's Shearwater were noted past this morning, as well as a single Sooty Shearwater and 25 Manx Shearwater. A Wryneck was noted on a wall between the farm and the Rumps.

PENZANCE/ ISLES OF SCILLY; A single Great Shearwater was noted from the Scillonian today.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Two Wood Sandpipers still present today, also two Green Sandpiper and a Ruff were noted.

NANQUIDNO; Three juvenile Choughs were present in field at the seaward end.


Friday 19th August 2005.

 

PENZANCE; An adult, a first summer and a juvenile Mediterranean Gulls was noted feeding outside the Morrison's Supermarket.

PENDEEN; Three Cory's, three Balearic and two Sooty Shearwaters were watched past this morning.

STITHIAN'S RESERVOIR; A Pectoral Sandpiper was noted from the South Hide.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Two Wood Sandpiper, seven Green Sandpiper, four Greenshank, five Common Sandpiper, two Dunlin and seven Little Egret were all recorded from the hide.

SENNEN COVE; Six, first summer and five juvenile), Mediterranean Gull were present today.

HAYLE ESTUARY; At Lelant Water, two, (an adult and a juvenile), Mediterranean Gull were noted together with 14 Little Egret and single Whimbrel and Greenshank.


Thursday 18th August 2005.

 

DRIFT RESERVOIR; One Wood Sandpiper and six Little Egret were present today.

SENNEN COVE; Twelve Mediterranean Gull, (eleven juveniles and a first summer), and a second summer Yellow-legged Gull were off Lifeboat Station today.

ST JOHN'S LAKE; Four Mediterranean Gull and four Little Egret were noted today.


Wednesday 17th August 2005.

 

HAYLE ESTUARY; Three Mediterranean Gulls, (adult and two juveniles), present at Lelant Water this morning together with seven Little Egret, and single Greenshank and Black-tailed Godwit.

NANJIZAL; A Wood Sandpiper was noted on the pool this morning together with two Garganey. Three Tree Pipits flew over.

CAMEL ESTUARY; One Curlew Sandpiper was on Dinham Flats today as was nine Greenshank, six Common Sandpiper and 169 Oystercatcher. Two Peregrine Falcon were also noted hunting in the area.

CLAPPER MARSHES; Four Green Sandpiper, five Common Sandpiper, three Teal and eleven Moorhen were present today.

WADEBRIDGE; 176 House Martins were counted on wires at Guineaport today.


Tuesday 16th August 2005.

 

HAYLE ESTUARY; Three, (an adult and two juveniles), Mediterranean Gulls were present at Lelant Water today.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; A Wood Sandpiper was located this morning, also noted were five Greenshank and five Green Sandpipers.

SENNEN COVE; Three juvenile Mediterranean Gulls were present this morning.

TAMAR LAKES; A juvenile Spotted Redshank was present at the Upper Lake this afternoon.


Monday 15th August 2005.

 

HAYLE ESTUARY; At Lelant Water, two Mediterranean Gulls, (an adult and a first winter), were present along with seven Little Egret.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Six Little Egret, eight Green Sandpiper and five Common Sandpipers were present today.

UPPER TAMAR LAKE; A juvenile Little Ringed Plover was observed this morning at the Upper Lake, as was six Green Sandpiper and three Greenshank.


Sunday 14th August 2005.

 

PENTIRE/RUMPS POINT; Four Sooty Shearwater past this morning, 0800 to 0900. Single Balearic and 850 Manx Shearwater were also noted.

ST AGNES POINT; One Balearic Shearwater, 200 Manx Shearwaters and an Arctic Skua past this morning.

PENDEEN; Three Cory's Shearwater, one Great Shearwater, four Balearic Shearwater and four Sooty Shearwater noted this morning.

CLAPPER MARSHES; Four Green Sandpipers, five Sand Martins, 50 House Martin and four adult and seven young Moorhen were present today.

HAYLE ESTUARY; An adult and a juvenile Mediterranean Gull were noted at Lelant Water this afternoon.

GODREVY POINT; One Cory's Shearwater, two Balearic Shearwater and three Sooty Shearwaters were watched past today, also present were single Great and Arctic Skuas.

WADEBRIDGE; Two Sand Martins flew over the town late evening.


Saturday 13th August 2005.

 

HAYLE ESTUARY; Three Mediterranean Gulls, (an adult, a first summer and a juvenile), were noted at Lelant Water today.

MARAZION BEACH; An adult Mediterranean Gull was present this morning.

PORTHGWARRA; A Great Shearwater past this afternoon, a minimum of eight Balearic and four Sooty Shearwater were recorded throughout the day.

TOLCARNE BEACH; A juvenile Mediterranean Gull was noted this morning.


Friday 12th August 2005.

 

PORTHGWARRA; A CATTLE EGRET flew past, southwest, at 0720. Also noted was a single Balearic Shearwater.

NANJIZAL; The CATTLE EGRET  was relocated on the scrape this morning. A BEE-EATER was heard calling between 0815 and 0830. A Pied Flycatcher and a single Green Sandpiper was also recorded.

TREVOSE HEAD; Five Balearic Shearwater past today.

SENNEN COVE; A single Common Sandpiper was noted today.

PITYME; An unconfirmed report of four STORKS flying over the village early afternoon. Although the jizz was right, the birds were very high and the observer did not have his binoculars.


Thursday 11th August 2005.

 

HAYLE ESTUARY; At Copperhouse Creek an adult Mediterranean Gull was present together with two Whimbrel and four Little Egret. At Lelant Water four Mediterranean Gull, (an adult, a first summer and two juveniles), were noted, as was six Little Egret.

PENZANCE; An adult and a juvenile Mediterranean Gulls was noted feeding outside the Morrison's Supermarket.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Two Greenshank and seven Little Egret were recorded here today.

SENNEN COVE; Six Mediterranean Gulls, (two second summer and four juveniles), were present at the Lifeboat Station today.

CAMEL ESTUARY; A Little Egret was at Wadebridge this morning as was the Muscovy Duck.


Wednesday 10th August 2005.

 

PENZANCE; An adult and two juvenile Mediterranean Gulls was noted feeding outside the Morrison's Supermarket.

MARAZION MARSH; A single Hobby was noted this morning.

SENNEN COVE; An adult and two juvenile Mediterranean Gulls were present this morning.

CAMEL ESTUARY; A single Hobby was watched over Trevilling Marsh.


Tuesday 9th August 2005.

 

INDIAN QUEENS; A WHITE STORK was watched flying, low, southwest mid morning.

CAMEL ESTUARY; At the Burniere Hide, 13 Greenshank were noted, also present were nine Ringed Plover, six Dunlin, one Green Sandpiper, two Common Sandpiper, six Redshank and a Whimbrel. A Little Egret was present at Wadebridge early morning.

CLAPPER MARSHES; Six Green Sandpipers were present today as was five Common Sandpiper, two Teal, four Heron, one Kingfisher and four adult and four juvenile Moorhen.

WADEBRIDGE; A Sparrowhawk was watching hunting over the town.


Monday 8th August 2005.

 

ST BREOCK DOWNS; A Quail was heard calling early morning. Ten Red-legged Partridges were also noted as was Yellowhammer and Whitethroat.

WADEBRIDGE; A WHITE STORK was watched circling over the town at 1750. It drifted off towards Bodmin. At the Two Trees Estate, a Lesser Whitethroat was noted in a garden this morning. Four Buzzards were watched over the town this afternoon.

CLAPPER MARSHES; 18 Mallard, one Sand Martin, 35 Swallow and three Buzzards were noted this evening.

AMBLE MARSHES; A Little Ringed Plover was present this evening.


Sunday 7th August 2005.

 

PENZANCE; An adult Mediterranean Gull was noted feeding outside the Morrison's Supermarket.

HAYLE ESTUARY; Three Mediterranean Gulls, (an adult, a first summer and a juvenile), were present at Lelant Water today together with two Black-tailed Godwits and four Whimbrel.

SENNEN COVE; A juvenile Mediterranean Gull was noted off Lifeboat Station again today.

PENDEEN; Five Balearic Shearwater, a Sooty Shearwater and Great Skua were noted past.

DRIFT RESERVOIR; Three Green Sandpiper were noted today.


Saturday 6th August 2005.

 

PENDEEN; 28 Cory's Shearwater past this morning as did a single Great Shearwater.

PENZANCE/ ISLES OF SCILLY; Two Cory's Shearwater were noted.


Friday 5th August 2005.

 

ST AGNES HEAD; 32 Cory's and a single Great Shearwater were noted past this morning. Also recorded were two Sooty Shearwater and three Great Skua.

PENDEEN; Four Great Shearwaters past this morning together with 200 Cory's Shearwater, five Sooty Shearwater and two Storm Petrels.

HAYLE ESTUARY; Two Mediterranean Gulls, (an adult and a first summer), were present at Lelant Water today as well as two Black-tailed Godwit and two Greenshank.

ST IVES ISLAND; Three Cory's Shearwater was noted today as was two Balearic Shearwater and two Storm Petrels.

PENTIRE/ RUMPS POINT; Eight Cory's Shearwater and a single Sooty Shearwater were noted this morning, also 56 Storm Petrels were counted.

GODREVY POINT; 50 Cory's Shearwater were noted this morning, together with two Balearic Shearwater, six Storm Petrels and two Sooty Shearwaters.


Thursday 4th August 2005.

 

PENDEEN; Up to 30 Cory's Shearwater were noted throughout the day, as well as two Great Shearwater, seven Sooty Shearwater, a Balearic Shearwater, two Pomarine Skua, two Great Skua and five Storm Petrels.

ST JUST AIRFIELD; A large falcon, probably a GYR FALCON was reported today.


Wednesday 3rd August 2005.

 

PENDEEN; Five Cory's Shearwater past this morning.

PENTIRE/ RUMPS POINT; A single Sooty Shearwater past this morning together with 300 Manx Shearwater, four Arctic Tern, 60 Kittiwake and a Storm Petrel.

HAYLE ESTUARY; A single Green Sandpiper and two Common Sandpipers were present today.


Tuesday 2nd August 2005.

 

TOLCARNE BEACH; A juvenile Mediterranean Gull was present today.

HAYLE ESTUARY; Two Mediterranean Gulls, an adult and a first summer was present at Lelant Water today.


Monday 1st August 2005.

 

HAYLE ESTUARY; A juvenile Mediterranean Gull was present at Lelant Water today as was six Little Egret, two Black-tailed Godwit and two Whimbrel.

CAMEL ESTUARY; 16 Greenshank, two Common Sandpiper, three Whimbrel, two Stock Dove, a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Cuckoo was noted at the Burniere Hide today.

SENNEN COVE; Five Mediterranean Gulls, (an adult, a second summer and three juveniles), were noted today.
